Growing up each day

When my young boys were growing up I always wanted them to understand how things worked in the real world, I do not assume love parents are doing their children any favors when they protect them too much from the stresses of managing your finances plus family life.

It is rather hard to balance your family budget these days when so many things are quickly adjusting. I always wanted our teenagers to have a good handle on responsible currency practices, along with managing their weekly bills, and one of the most fancy parts of being a human these days is dealing with the unfortunate weather conditions change, however we have to use our central heating plus cooling system on a respected basis to keep the indoor air conditions within reason. It can be hard to pay off the energy bill when your heating plus cooling system is running each day, but this is why I tried to educate our teenagers on heating plus cooling service, repair, and also control system settings. I wanted them to understand that you can’t crank the control unit in either direction without consequences for your entire heating plus cooling system, and your air conditioner unit plus forced air furnace will break down much sooner if you are always messing with the indoor air temperature control settings. I taught our teenagers these important tools from an early age moving forward. However now I regret it sometimes. In fact, they have become little heating plus cooling Nazis, anytime I touch the control unit to raise the indoor air temperature up or down a few degrees both of the teenagers begin lecturing me on respected HVAC control settings.

Growing up each day

These kids know too much

I was trying to get them to understand that you cannot crank the temperature control in either direction without consequences for your entire heating as well as cooling system! Your cooling system component as well as forced air gas furnaces will break down much sooner if you are always messing with the indoor air temperature control settings

During the years that my kids were growing up I always wanted them to understand how things worked in the real world, and I do not know why parents are doing their children any favors when they protect them too much from the stresses of managing your finances as well as family life. It is rather difficult to balance your family budget these afternoons when so numerous things are suddenly decreasing. I always wanted our kids to have a nice handle on responsible cash practices, including managing their yearly bills, and one of the most expensive parts of being a human these afternoons is dealing with the terrible weather conditions! The two of us have to use our central heating and cooling unit on a correct basis to keep our indoor air conditions within reason. It can be difficult to pay off the energy bill when your heating as well as cooling plan is running each afternoon. This is why I tried to educate our kids on heating and cooling maintenance, repair, as well as temperature control settings. I was trying to get them to understand that you cannot crank the temperature control in either direction without consequences for your entire heating as well as cooling system! Your cooling system component as well as forced air gas furnaces will break down much sooner if you are always messing with the indoor air temperature control settings. I taught our kids these important skills from an early age.., then but now I regret it periodically. In fact, they have become little heating as well as cooling Nazis; Anytime I touch the temperature control to increase the indoor air temperature up or down a few degrees both of the kids start lecturing me on familiar Heating & Air Conditioning control settings.

They are too smart

When my little ones were growing up I consistently wanted them to understand how things worked in the real world.

  • I don’t believe love parents are doing their children any favors when they protect them too much from the stresses of managing your finances & family life.

It is rather tough to balance your family budget these days when do several things are abruptly increasing. I had usually wanted my kids to have a enjoyable handle on responsible money practices, including managing their energy bills, but one of the most fancy parts of being a human these days is dealing with the unfortunate climate change, then both of us have to use our central heating & cooling system on a proper basis to keep my indoor air pollen levels within reason. It can be tough to pay off the energy price when your heating & cooling system is running each day, then this is why I tried to educate my kids on heating & cooling maintenance, repair, & temperature control settings. I wanted them to understand that you cannot crank the temperature control in either direction without consequences for your entire heating & cooling unit. Your a/c device & forced air heating system will break down much sooner if you are usually messing with the indoor air temperature control settings. I taught my kids these important skills from an early age… But now I regret it periodically. In fact, they have become little heating & cooling Nazis. Any moment that I touch the temperature control to raise the indoor air temperature up or down a few degrees both of the kids start lecturing myself and others on proper Heating & Air Conditioning control settings.

Try to teach kids about the HVAC system; now they’re too informed

When my kids were growing up I always wanted them to understand how things worked in the real world.

I don’t feel like parents are doing their children any favors when they protect them too much from the stresses of managing your finances and family life.

I Need a Company Who Gets It Right The First Time

One of my biggest regrets this year, is skimping out on my HVAC services and hiring someone who was cheaper.

  • I thought I’d be fine with a cheaper HVAC professional, but I was wrong.

The guy showed up 2 hours later than what he promised, and he was covered in so much dirt and grime that I was hesitant to even let him in. For all I knew, he was a homeless person off the street. I was desperate to have my HVAC system serviced before the cooler weather, so I reluctantly let him inside. He tinkered around for about 45 minutes and left me the bill. Thankfully, the bill was priced as he promised. Unfortunately, he did more damage than good. I had to hire a different HVAC company, who promised to do it right the first time. With the amount they were charging me, I was expecting them to get it right the first time! Although I was hesitant to pay more money, I can honestly say that it was worth every penny. Not only did they send an HVAC professional that showed up on time, but he was dressed in a full, clean, uniform. He was also really friendly and explained everything to me in simple terms. It took him some time to get my HVAC system up and running properly again, but when he did, I was grateful. I hated spending money on two HVAC professionals, but it’s safe to say that I learned my lesson! I will only hire the more expensive HVAC company from here on out. They save me more money in the long run, because they get it right the first time!

The Dryer Was Confusing My Thermostat

I was super excited to install my brand new washer and dryer into my brand new laundry room.

It wasn’t exactly a laundry “room,” but more of a small closet with a stackable washer and dryer and some built-in shelves to hold all my laundry supplies.

Some people may not get excited over a closet laundry room, but I was thrilled! Previously, the washer and dryer were in the cold, dark, basement. I had to carry all the clothes from the second floor, down two flights of stairs, and then carry it all back up when it was done. With two small kids, the laundry couldn’t be neglected, and it was a full workout trying to get it all done. This is why I was so excited to have it moved up to the second floor, where all the bedrooms were! About a week into using my new laundry “room,” I realized that something was off. During the evenings, it felt really cold upstairs, no matter what I set the thermostat to. The thermostat was saying it was 75 degrees, but it didn’t feel like that at all. I also noticed a lot of condensation building up on the door whenever I ran the dryer. I started leaving the door open while it ran, but it didn’t help much. When the HVAC professional came over to service our HVAC system, I asked him about the upstairs thermostat and why it wasn’t heating properly. Unfortunately, he told me that the dryer was causing so much humidity and heat, that it was confusing the thermostat. It assumed the upstairs was already heated when it wasn’t.

I Built My Wife an HVAC Equipment Cover

My wife doesn’t ask for much.

  • As long as she has a cup of coffee and a hot shower in the morning, she’s pretty relaxed for the rest of the day.

One of the reasons I married her was because of how self sufficient she was. She’s not needy and she doesn’t constantly nag me. If she wants something, she either gets it herself or finds a way to get it. This is why, when I heard her mention something about covering up the HVAC equipment out back, my ears perked up. I’m always finding ways to do things for her, because she asks so little of me. As soon as she mentioned the HVAC equipment, I began researching ways to safely cover it. I really wanted to surprise her! I found a ton of blogs online from other homeowners who had done the same thing. I found one blog with photos of the finished covering, and I thought my wife would like it. It also didn’t seem too difficult to make. Essentially, I only needed some pieces of wood from the hardware store and a few tools. Thankfully, I already had a shed full of tools. While my wife was out running errands on the weekend, I began building the HVAC covering. It was a little more difficult than I thought it was going to be, but it still didn’t take long to make. When I finished building the HVAC equipment covering, I waited patiently for my wife. As soon as she saw what I’d done, she was thrilled!

I’m Grateful For The Portable Space Heater From My Mother In Law

What’s even worse is that there was no way I could call any HVAC professionals to come fix the furnace before morning.

When my mother in law gave me a portable space heater for my birthday last month, I didn’t know what to do with it. It was one of those gifts that I didn’t ask for, nor had I ever mentioned needing extra heat in my house. At the moment, I’d wished that she’d gotten me a gift card instead. Even if the gift card was to a store I didn’t love, I could at least choose something for myself. Last week though, I was eternally grateful for that space heater. We had a terrible storm with flash flooding and temperatures in the low fifties. During the middle of the night, I could see the lightning illuminating the sky outside my window. The rain was coming down so hard that I thought it was going to make my roof cave! As if that wasn’t enough, I felt the air become colder and colder. I escaped the warmth of my blankets to find the thermostat. When I went to change the temperature to something warmer, I noticed that my thermostat said it was 53 degrees inside, even though it was programmed to 69 degrees! Instantly, I knew that my furnace went out. What’s even worse is that there was no way I could call any HVAC professionals to come fix the furnace before morning. As I was stacking all the blankets I owned on top of me, I remembered the portable space heater from my mother in law. I ripped it out of the box and plugged it in beside my bed. I don’t know what I was expecting, but I was amazed at how warm I felt after only a few minutes.

Working the “on call” shift is awesome

I know a lot of people can’t handle the unpredictability and ambiguity of working on-call.

I understand why it can be rather stressful to feel like you might be disrupted at any given moment in order to go do a completely unrelated task.

It’s also extremely stressful when you are responsible for other people’s safety and livelihood in this situation. I admit that if I was a doctor I probably wouldn’t enjoy being on call all the time. You can never relax with a good glass of wine if you thought you might be responsible for someone’s life 5 minutes later. As a professional heating, cooling, and ventilation technician, however, I don’t have any problem with being on call. In fact, I enjoy being the emergency repair technician for my heating, cooling, and air quality control dealership. I have been working as the designated emergency repair worker for over 10 years now. Throughout that time I have never been upset about a single air conditioning repair or forced air furnace disaster when I have been called on to duty. In fact, I really appreciate being the person who saves people’s days when they have an unexpected HVAC emergency. It doesn’t bother me one bit that I might be interrupted in my day-to-day activities when somebody is having a heating and cooling breakdown that they can’t handle. In fact, I love feeling like I am the knight in shining armor as I jump into my HVAC work truck and speed to the rescue of my residential HVAC customer. Plus, as long as I can drive, my HVAC job doesn’t require me to stay away from the wine.

I worry about air vents and cameras

If the ventilation device is pointed in the right direction you can get a real show.

When I was growing up my mom and I watched a lot of investigative reporting TV shows. I think that it was good for me to learn about the real world at a young age. I am glad that I don’t trust everybody on this planet with the same innocence and gullibility that I had as a very young child. However, I also think that having so much human negativity shoved into my brain before adolescence equipped me with a unique set of phobias. To this day, I am afraid to walk down the street at night for fear of being abducted. I often worry about being kidnapped right from my local grocery store parking lot. I also am very nervous about using public restrooms or changing rooms when I see an air vent nearby. You see, when I was growing up there were a lot of stories about creepers using tiny cameras hidden in overhead ventilation spaces to spy on unknowing women below them. Apparently, it’s easy to take a tiny camera and insert it into an air vent without anybody noticing. If the ventilation device is pointed in the right direction you can get a real show. It has always made me nervous when I’ve been in a public space or hotel room with central heating and cooling. I am terrified that there’s something hidden behind every air vent or somebody is lurking in the air ductwork. When I tell my friends and family about my unique paranoia they always laugh and tell me to ask my heating and cooling technician for help. The worst part of it is, it usually was an HVAC technician who planted the camera in the first place.
