My cousin Angela and I always dreamed of working together when we were kids.
Even when we were both too young to even know what sort of career we might be interested in, we still knew that we wanted to do it together! Most young kids’ dreams don’t end up exactly how they planned them, but Angela and I went to college together and majored in web development and internet marketing.
When we graduated from college and first started up our digital marketing company, we didn’t really know what we were doing. Sure, we had been in classes for web design, internet marketing, and SEO services, but as far as putting that to use out in the real world, we were kind of clueless. We decided to start slow and try to build a good customer base for our digital marketing services. I will never forget the day that we went after our first major client. It was a small, family owned ice cream shop here in town. We both loved their products and the way that they had a flavor of the day each day of the week. They had great promotional ideas, too, like puppy cone day and free kids cone day. We knew that they had a good thing going, but we wanted to try and increase their foot traffic with maximum exposure from our social media management ideas. We got them to sign up with us and we totally redesigned their website design and got right to work on their social media management. Within three months, they had almost doubled their sales!
