Working every holiday as an HVAC technician is annoying

At this point, the HVAC business isn’t really in need of any more technicians to take care of the business and so it looks like I’ll be at the bottom of the ladder for some time

I have to work nearly every holiday in my job as an HVAC technician. I have to admit that it gets pretty annoying a lot of the time. I feel like all of the HVAC technicians at our company should have to pitch in and take turns working on weekends. However, the way our boss does it is he makes the last HVAC technician hired do all of the holiday work. I guess it actually does give you an incentive to stick around and keep on working, because you know that eventually, they are going to have to hire other HVAC professionals and you are going to start getting holidays off with your family. Plus, at the HVAC company where I work, you get paid for holidays, even when you aren’t working. I think that’s great, and I really love the company that I work for most of the time. I guess it just gets old knowing that since I’m technically the new kid on the block, I’m always going to be the one going out to do air conditioning repairs and furnace installations during the holidays for the foreseeable future. At this point, the HVAC business isn’t really in need of any more technicians to take care of the business and so it looks like I’ll be at the bottom of the ladder for some time. So who really knows how many holidays I will have to work before they hire another HVAC technician to take my place? I just have to keep my eyes on the prize and know that eventually my time will be up.
