Only try to fix HVAC equipment if you’re a professional
There is a reason that heating and A/C professionals go to all those lengths to be certified and licensed for what they do.
I have the price tag to prove it.
Going forward with a stupid plan of fixing our own heating and A/C went so terribly wrong that I can hardly suppose I thought it was ever a nice idea. It all started when I noticed that the heating and A/C was cycling on a whole lot. It was still early summer so the temps weren’t exactly broiling yet. But the heating and A/C was running all the time. I felt the air coming out of the vents and it wasn’t near as cool as it normally is. This is the spot I should have reached for the cell phone and called the heating and A/C professionals that all of us have been using for decades. That is sadly not what happened. Instead, I went to the laptop and looked up a diagnosis online. Whatever could go wrong? It appeared to myself and others that all I had to do was go to the hardware store and get a heating and A/C recharge kit. They wouldn’t make them if I couldn’t use them right? Of course, I didn’t suppose what I was doing nor did I even honestly suppose what sort of concern the heating and A/C was having. But that didn’t stop myself and others from hooking up the recharge thing. It didn’t take but a few minutes before I heard a pop and then a noticeable hiss. This really wasn’t good. At least I had the wherewithal to turn off the heating and A/C and call the heating and A/C people. I had cracked the compressor and done some other mangle that was totally unrelated to the initial problem. Please, learn from our huge mistake. Only have the pros fool around with the heating and A/C system.
