Home renovations
Some people would consider old homes to be a lot of work.
But I find a charm in vintage houses that modern homes seem to lack.
So when I had the opportunity to buy an old home I jumped on it. When I first saw the extent of the damage, I started having second thoughts about my decision to purchase this house. But then I saw the beauty hidden under the dirt, and what it could be if given a little bit of love. It would be a big and expensive project. But I decided to see it forward. To name a few problems with the home, the entire HVAC unit needed replaced, wallpaper was peeling down the walls, severe wood rot in several areas, holes in the walls, bug infested, leaky roof, and lots of mold growth. For not the first time I wondered if the house was truly worth saving. I decided to tackle the mold and broken heating and cooling system first. I called out a heating and cooling professional to completely take out the old heater and air conditioner. It was well rotted away and filled with dust. Then I visited my local heater and air conditioning business and bought a brand new gas heater and air conditioner. Later that week it was installed and for the first time in a long time the house had a working central heat and a/c system, it was progress but there was still a lot of work to be done. It took me an entire year before I managed to get the home in a livable state.
