From as long as I can remember, my dad would bring my sibling and I over to my Grandma’s lake house for a quick visit.

I remember the popcorn she would supply us, and the games we would play. Another thing I remember is how she regularly had the heat running in their house, no matter the time of year. My sibling and I regularly looked at each other thinking the same thing- “how is she cold right now?!”, she regularly had to have the gas furnace running in the house. I did not understand why it was regularly so sizzling in her lake house until my dad told myself and others that most older people are usually colder than young people; From that day, I regularly assumed that outdated people were just cold; When she was residing in an assisted residing facility, she regularly had the heat running. This was something that I never understood, because even in the middle of the summer, she would have the gas furnace blasting. I didn’t know if I should ask her about it because she regularly seemed comfortable. I remember 1 time we left the assisted residing facility and we were all dripping with sweat. The people I was with and I had to go lake house and take a shower! My Grandma passed away recently but I am ecstatic that she was comfortable towards the end of her life. She was a actually nice lady, and was regularly ecstatic, even if she smoked us out of her lake house every time!

I remember when I was 12, a devastating storm hit the town that I lived in, but the town took a direct hit and a lot of people were out of power for a while, after a frightening night in the dark, wondering how long the storm would last, the sunshine finally came out and we were all shocked at the outcome of the powerful storm. This was the middle of the Summer in a southern region, so you can imagine the heat that we had to endure during this time. The people I was with and I cooked on the grill and used water from the pool to flush the toilets. The people I was with and I were not used to this kind of residing, most of my friends had power after a few nights however for some reason, my family’s lake house did not get power back for 4 weeks. The people I was with and I finally broke down and had my uncle bring us a generator so that we could run electrically to a portable air conditioner. My entire family slept in 1 room for 2 weeks until the power was back on, but i remember going to my friends lake house and thinking how we had taken electricity for granted my whole life! When the power finally came back on, we were thrilled to learn that the AC was still working in all of our rooms. A month without AC in the heat can entirely build some character, or at least that is what my dad told us. The people I was with and I are forever grateful for the nights we get to spend in the AC during the Summer months.

I was telling my fiance that I wished the two of us had a temperature control with big numbers that were easy to see. I hate having to squint when increasing the temperature control settings. It was strenuous enough before my glasses were broken, however now I was just struggling to get the right temperature control settings in our home. My fiance advised that I call up the Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C dealer to see about getting a newer style of temperature control. I hated the car that I was driving.

The only reason that I was even driving the car was that the car was given to myself and others as a gift, as well as I could not afford a better car at the time, then otherwise, I would have particularly ditched that car for a better car. But I like to think of it this way, it’s either I deal with a small Heating, Ventilation, and A/C bill now, or a crucial Heating, Ventilation, and A/C repair bill later on down the road. At least this way I can guarantee that both our oil furnace and AC are going to labor the rest of the year, that’s better than what some people can say. Some people never get their Heating, Ventilation, and A/C equipment looked at, and just wait for it to fail 1 afternoon before getting Heating, Ventilation, and A/C repair, which baffles me, since they are only creating a sizable problem for themselves in the future.
