This is true whether it be a product or a service.

The idea of not getting the value out of an expense can really get under my skin. It only doubles this feeling when I get rooked by someone proclaiming to be an expert or professional. That will send me to stand in front of the HVAC cooling vent in order to calm down. It’s a method of instantly deescalating my emotions. And getting had by a professional really gets my angry emotions flowing. However, there are certainly a ton of scenarios where a professional service is required. This is quite true when it comes to the HVAC repair. The HVAC around our place is quite the essential component. In our part of the county, we have a cold winter and a blistering summer. It’s like the opposite of having the best of both worlds. This requires having a very good heating and cooling method. Living without excellent HVAC under these weather conditions is closing in on crazy. Although I do know people who use unlicensed individuals to work on their HVAC equipment. It’s totally counterproductive to me. When I have a situation where HVAC repair is called for, the only people I call are the HVAC professionals. Our local HVAC company has been nothing but excellent and fair for decades. Plus, they guarantee their work because they know it’s done right. While I may keep my eye on a lawyer or watch medical costs, I never doubt the HVAC professionals.

I can be a real stubborn idiot at times.

Thankfully, this isn’t a constant characteristic or central to my being.

But, it is definitely true that I can get a bit obsessed and be unwilling to let go of certain things. This should be happening less and less because I am completely aware of the fact that this behavior normally ends badly. An example of this phenomenon can be seen in how I handled the latest HVAC situation. I’m a bit mechanically inclined. Certainly no sort of expert of any kind. Just a guy that can sometimes figure out how to repair something or complete a household project. When the HVAC began to act up, I figured I’d have a peek prior to calling the HVAC professionals. Maybe it was an easy fix. Of course, my wife warned me off of this thinking because she’s actually smart. But, I wasn’t going to give up until I at least took a look at things to see if there was something rather obvious out of place. I should never have even taken the front panel off of the HVAC air handle. And, I have no idea why that was the first place I went. There wasn’t even a trip to the internet to get some sort of idea or what I was looking for. I just went straight for the air handler because that is where I could detect an unusual sound. But in simply taking off the panel and inspecting the guts of the HVAC air handler, I messed something up as I heard a pop. My wife put an end to all of it by having the HVAC tech get out as soon as possible. It probably saved me from completely destroying the HVAC.

We all need a place where we feel connected and centered. For some people, that space is in their home. This is a good thing. I know that I come home to a house that provides instant HVAC comfort among other amenities. However, I still need something different to truly reset and reconnect or recharge. That place for me is the cabin we have in the woods. I should clarify the “we”. It is a family cabin I share with my brothers and sister. This is a place that my dad bought nearly 60 years. I have to admit that I was not onboard with this idea initially. However, after a vote, it was decided that we would start doing a few things to make the cabin more accessible to everyone. We started by sealing it up a bit more and putting in a proper floor. Then we added so decent furnishings and made the kitchen more user friendly. The final touch was to add a ductless heating & cooling unit to the place. Now, there is plenty of comfort to be had by all when reconnecting and recharging.

For quite some time, I knew that I wasn’t where I needed to be in life.

I was basically stuck with this job that I absolutely hated.

I swore that if my boss got on my case about another petty thing, I was going to hit the road and say goodbye forever. Well, he actually did give me a hard time saying that I wasn’t smiling enough when working with the clients. I felt I smiled just fine, it just wasn’t fake smile phony conversations. So I left the job because I couldn’t deal with this company any longer. I ended up just picking up some junk from the junkyard and tried to do something with everything. I ended up making a statue of junk which surprisingly looked good. It had this nice artistic look and I couldn’t believe it when I sold it for a pretty penny. So I started other projects in my garage. One thing I realized was it was too hot in there, so I hooked up my own DIY ductless mini split in there. It was pretty easy because I checked out the installation video online. Then I restored furniture and fixed up some other HVAC components. I ended up selling these things for good money. I basically turned this little hobby into a business and I am now making more money than what I was making working at that deadend job that was stressing me out. I honestly wish I would have done something like this for longer, I would have been a lot more stress free.

I worked hard over the years and eventually I was able to start up my own business. I also hired some of the most talented professionals and I even had a nice working environment for everybody.
